Ultimately, we measure success one child at a time. A single child thrives with the support of sustained, positive relationships and connected, meaningful learning opportunities.
Our approach is to seed innovative, early stage organizations and programs so that they in turn can build capacity of traditional school systems in California to better serve the needs of all their students. We make grants that: identify and research systems challenges; test site-based solutions for our neediest populations; generate local systems solutions; and improve the capacity of systems across the state to serve students more successfully. We also support our grantees with capacity-building efforts and collaboration opportunities, because we believe organizations can move themselves and the field further faster together.
At scale, long-term collaboration can improve the lives and educational experiences of all children.
